About
We are the Junior League of Stamford-Norwalk
Our goal is to promote and perpetuate social change in the Stamford-Norwalk area as well as Darien, New Canaan, Ridgefield, Westport, Weston, and Wilton communities that will benefit most from it. By empowering women and providing valuable leadership training, we are giving local women the tools to get involved, put their talents to work, and positively impact the communities surrounding Stamford-Norwalk.
Strength in Numbers
As one of hundreds of Junior League chapters across the world, we are a member of the Association of Junior Leagues International, Inc. (AJLI). Established in 1923, the Junior League of Stamford-Norwalk plays an integral part in the development, improvement, and support of the eight communities in our service area.
While you’re here, we welcome you to learn how to join us, support our work, or get involved.
Our Local Impact
When local nonprofits need dedicated volunteers, they turn to JLSN. Our Done in a Day service projects allow us to provide smaller scale, hands-on support to many causes that matter to our members. Led by our Community Committee, these service opportunities help our members connect with the community and make a difference each month. We’ve been fortunate to continue many of our partnerships year over year, providing much needed services to those in our community.
Done in a Day events include activities such as:
- Community Improvement Project at Inspirica painting, building furniture, and working to renovate rooms at Inspirica’s family shelter in Stamford
- Organizing a winter coat drive to benefit Person-to-Person in Darien
- Making no-sew blankets for cancer patients with One Tough Cookie
- Cleaning up trash and debris at local beaches in partnership with Save the Sound
- Serving dinner for families at Malta House in Norwalk and Inspirica in
Stamford - Supplying holiday gifts for children at Family Centers in Stamford
- Serving lunch and hosting activities for children and parents at Open Doors
- Providing backpacks and new school supplies for children at Inspirica in
Stamford - Serving a Mother’s Day luncheon and offering gift baskets to mothers at
Malta House in Norwalk - Sorting donations, stocking shelves, and collecting items for the Food Bank of Lower Fairfield County
We are always interested in partnering with other local nonprofits. If you’re interested in a partnership with JLSN, email community@jlsn.org.
Currently, we are evaluating options to select a new focus for our League that will unite our volunteer efforts in the community we serve. Our goal is to fill the gaps identified by our Members and nonprofits who are working in the community with our neighbors daily. Over the next few months we aim to identify the path forward for our community work and find ways to deepen our impact. If you have a need you would like us to consider or ideas of where our resources are most needed, please email president@jlsn.org.
Help Us Lead Change
There is always more work to be done, more help needed and more opportunities to make an impact in Stamford-Norwalk. The empowered women of the Junior League of Stamford-Norwalk are working to improve our local communities through leadership and effective action. Will you join them?
